Start with the easy wins
Scan for fill-in-the-blank clues first. They usually have one obvious answer and give you letters to work with elsewhere.
Use the crossings
Every letter belongs to two words. If an Across clue stumps you, solve the Down clues that cross it and let the answer appear letter by letter.
Match the clue's form
A clue in the past tense has a past-tense answer; a plural clue usually means the answer ends in S. An abbreviation in the clue hints at an abbreviated answer.
Watch for question marks
A question mark at the end of a clue signals a pun or playful meaning. Don't take it literally.
Learn the regulars
Some short words appear again and again because their letters are so handy: ERA, OREO, ALOE, ETA. You'll start spotting them quickly.
It's fine to get help
Taking a hint is how everyone learns. PuzzleCraft's clue helper gives a gentle nudge before revealing anything, and the clue solver explains why an answer fits.
