Free Crossword Puzzle Maker

Make a free crossword puzzle on any topic in seconds. AI writes the words and clues, you edit, then play online or print with an answer key.

PuzzleCraft is a free crossword puzzle maker that turns any topic into a real interlocking crossword in a few seconds. No sign-up, no fiddly grid drawing and no hunting for clues: you bring the idea, we do the layout.

How it works: type any topic into the box above, like "Ocean Animals", "Thanksgiving" or "Real Estate Terms", and PuzzleCraft writes a list of 10 to 30 topic words with a clue for each. You can edit any word or clue, remove ones you don't like, or paste in your own list instead. Then the builder fits the words into an interlocking grid, numbers every square and splits the clues into Across and Down.

When the grid is ready you can play it right in the browser with the arrow keys, check your letters, reveal a square, or ask the friendly clue helper for a gentle hint that never gives the answer away. Or print it: every puzzle has a clean printable sheet and a separate answer key, and you can save either one as a PDF from the print window. A share link lets anyone play the exact same puzzle on their phone or laptop.

It's built for teachers making vocabulary reviews, parents planning a rainy afternoon, party hosts who want a custom game, and anyone who just loves crosswords.

Is PuzzleCraft really free?

Yes. Making, playing, printing and sharing puzzles is free. A free account just lets you save puzzles to your library and keep a daily streak.

How many words can a crossword have?

Between 10 and 30 words. Fewer words make a quick, compact grid; more words make a bigger challenge.

Can I print the puzzle and the answer key?

Yes. Every puzzle has a Print button and a separate Answer Key button. Choose "Save as PDF" in the print window to download a PDF.

How do I share a puzzle?

Click Share link under the puzzle. Anyone who opens the link gets the exact same puzzle to play in their browser, no account needed.
